Vivid Racing and Subaru cars have been matched up since the beginning. With multiple project cars and hundreds of customer owned cars being modified here at Vivid Racing, it was only a matter of time that a 2010 Subaru STi SE found its way into our facility to be tuned.
The 2010 STi SE (special edition) is a lighter weight version of the standard STi. The suspension is also improved by Subaru with higher spring rates and stiffer sway bar to improve those lap times without losing the quality of a factory car.
The Aspen White SE featured here at Vivid Racing is one of only 125 limited production SE cars nationwide and we set out to make it better. Subaru factory tunes are notoriously weak. This STi was no different with lean A/R readings that was robbing this car of power. After a few pulls, the numbers came in with a +20 horsepower gain and +34 ft lbs. of torque over the baseline. Power was gained through the entire curve proving this car needed a proper ECU flash.
With the first 2010 STi SE tuned, a second SE stopped by to improve its performance and possibly the safety of the 2.5L engine. Already equipped with an Agency Power ram air intake, the Charcoal Grey SE put down a solid baseline of 247 hp and 262 ft lbs of torque. But again, the tune proved to be limiting the power this STi could make. After a new flash, the final run gave us a 272 hp and 291 ft lbs of torque on our conservative Mustang II AWD Dyno. A gain of +25 hp and +29 ft lbs of torque.
