Tomei is one of the biggest names in the JDM market. As time goes on they continue to improve their products, even if they were once considered perfect. Late in 2017, Tomei changed the entire design of their Expreme Ti silencer. Now, in early 2018, Tomei is improving their Expreme exhaust manifolds and downpipes by including a Titan Exhaust Bandage which is quite a bit a better than the exhaust wrap previously included with their headers and downpipes.
You may be wondering what an exhaust wrap/bandage is and if you even need one. Well, heat is energy and your exhaust manifold gets extremely hot. If all that heat is allowed to dissipate to the ambient air in the engine bay it will heat soak nearby components. For a turbocharged car, that energy could be forced into the turbo allowing it to spin faster, ultimately creating more boost. You cant make all the energy stay within the exhaust manifold because heat transfer will always happen. You can, however, retain more of that energy by wrapping your exhaust in a bandage.
- Less heat damage to nearby components
- Lower intake air temperatures
- Lower oil and coolant temperatures
- Faster spooling turbocharger(s)
This new Titan exhaust bandage has a superior design allowing it to keep more heat inside the exhaust tubing. It can also withstand temperatures over 2000F so you won’t have to worry about it being destroyed by extreme heat. The improved insulation minimizes heat transfer to the oil pan, radiator, and other components. This allows your vehicle to stay cool for longer. It also lowers the temperature of the air in your engine bay which lowers intake air temperatures.
The price of Tomei’s Expreme headers and downpipes will remain the same. Applications for this product range from Nissan, Mitsubishi, Toyota, Subaru, and Mazda.
