Akrapovic slip-on line exhausts are now in stock and available for the 2016 Audi R8 5.2 Coupe and Spyder. This is their latest high-performance exhaust system, and is designed to take the already thrilling R8 to even greater levels of excitement and intensity. The slip-on line exhaust system is constructed from an ultra-lightweight high-grade titanium alloy, which not only gives off an amazing appearance, but more importantly guarantees a boost to the R8’s power-to-weight ratio and handling traits.
Designed to make the most of the Audi’s stunning V10 naturally-aspirated engine, this exhaust system has been precision-engineered to improve throttle response, and increase power and torque outputs, with more power at the all-important 6,000 rpm mark (data figures below).
In addition to added power, the slip-on line exhaust system also features a major weight reduction of nearly 50% when compared to the OEM system. This performance exhaust is further designed to reduce back-pressure to almost half of the stock levels through a combination of specialized muffler shapes, secondary resonators and titanium dual-mode exhaust valves (cast in Akrapovič’s in-house titanium foundry). On top of all that, two exquisitely hand-crafted carbon-fiber and titanium tailpipes fit like a glove into the R8’s stock diffusor. The sound emitted from this system has been tuned by Akrapovic’s engineers to enhance the sporty note. The result is an incredible symphony from the car’s V10 engine, while still ensuring the maximum comfort, noise level and enjoyment behind the driver’s seat.
The tone moves from a pleasant growl at low revs to the unique unmistakeable Akrapovic race-like sound as the revs get higher. The sound can be further enriched through the addition of the optional Akrapovic sound kit. This added accessory grants the driver the option to control the sound of the system from inside the car.
Akrapovic has certainly taken Audi’s supercar and made it even better through increased power, lessened weight, and a superb sound. This car is a “total threat for the senses” and one that must be driven, seen and heard to be believed. Check out the videos below and experience it for yourself!
