The basic idea of an intake manifold is to direct air from the throttle body to the individual intake ports on the cylinder head. The problem is, most intake manifolds don’t flow that well, resulting in less than optimal power levels. The idea behind individual throttle bodies (ITB for short) is to replace the single throttle body with a small throttle body for each intake port. This results in much better airflow and improved throttle response. For the Porsche 964 and 993, AT Power has just released their new plug and play ITB kit.
Of course, claims of power and throttle response improvement without proof are useless, so ATP dyno tested this ITB kit thoroughly. As tested by AT Power, gains of around 45 horsepower can be found with this kit. Of course, the gains depend on the age and condition of the Porsche, but there are impressive gains none-the-less. Unlike other kits on the market, this is a full plug and play unit that includes everything you need. This system has been designed to be a “bolt on kit” with absolutely NO modifications required to the car thus allowing it to be returned to its original condition.
