This Customers NB Miata Gets a AutoPower Roll Cage For Added Safety and Reduced Chassis Flex!
When it comes to Miata’s, I can get a little sentimental. My first car was a 1990 NA Miata which was literally a bare bones car. The Car from the factory was not equipped with power steering or air conditioning. It had steel wheels and a 5 speed manual gearbox. With the lack of creature comforts, the car made up for it in pure driving enjoyment. It was the perfect balance of price, fun, reliability. Since the Miata was introduced, it has has been praised as an affordable roadster, with sports car handling. The only issue was being an early 90’s design, there were a few things that were looked over when put into production.

The car suffers from body roll and chassis flex. This is a common problem with almost any convertible that has been produced. The lack of Pillars and a fixed roof makes sedan and coupe counterparts more nimble in comparison. The good thing is, there are products available to stiffen up the chassis and make handling even better. Suspension such as shocks, springs, coilovers, and sway bars will all help with the geometry and to make the handling more neutral. Strut braces and under carriage braces can connect key components to make a structural difference and allow the body of the vehicle less movement. Cages are also a great way to stiffen up the chassis and provide safety for the driver / passengers. This is especially crucial if you are tracking the car, it also adds roll over protection in vehicles that were not equipped with factory precautions. With easy bolt in style cages, you can also make this product somewhat reversible rather than welding it directly into the car. With a little work and a few upgraded parts, your Miata will have what it takes to run with the big boys at the track.
