For many years, the rest of the world was able to enjoy the Civic Type R while the US was stuck with the much weaker Civic SI. When the FK8 Type R finally landed in the US, Honda enthusiasts went nuts. With 306 horsepower and 300 ft-lbs of torque, Honda built the fastest production front-wheel-drive car in history. As enthusiasts, however, we always want more. Thanks to Injen’s recent development of their cold air intake for the FK8 now we can have more.
- Designed to work with stock engine tune
- Aggressive intake sound under load
- Louder turbo noises
- Dyno-proven to gain up to 21hp and 17ft-lb
One problem that plagues many aftermarket intake systems is the lack of heat shield. Without some sort of heat shield, hot air inside the engine bay will be sucked in. Hot air is less dense and more susceptible to detonation, especially in a turbocharged car like the Type R. Injen avoided this problem by designing a small heat shield which is included with their new intake. As they tested on their dyno, this intake gained up to 21 horsepower and 17 ft-lbs.
