In the BMW 3-Series lineup, the M3 has long been the model everyone lusts after. It’s the performance benchmark for sports sedans and sports car alike. Unfortunately, the high price of the M3 means many prospective BMW buyers to opt for the 340i. Aside from the lower price, the 340i is special because it offers a fantastic driving experience and an optional manual transmission when the rest of the competition doesn’t. Thanks to the turbocharged of the B58 engine under the hood of the 340i, getting more power out of it is super easy.
One of the most popular ways to increase power output for any turbocharged engine is by allowing the turbocharger to compress more air. By replacing the OEM air intake with an intake that offers greater flow and cooler intake air temperatures, power is increased. The problem with many aftermarket intakes is the lack of a proper box to protect the intake from sucking in hot air under the hood. Injen, one of the biggest names in the aftermarket intake world, has just released their new Evolution intake for the BMW 340/440i.
This new intake solves the issue many aftermarket intakes face by using a full roto-molded intake box to house the filter and suck in cold air from the OEM cutout. They further reduce intake air temperatures by using a roto-molded intake tube which transfers less heat than an aluminum intake tube. On top of the increased airflow, this intake adds an awesome induction noise to your BMW!
