KW Coilovers are a prominent figure on recent Vivid Racing Project Cars. We have put KW suspension systems through many different tests from 206mph airstrip runs, jumping a bridge at the Targa Newfoundland, and doing the simple task of driving to and from work. Unlike many other coilovers on the market, which we have used first hand almost all of them, KW offers the optimal function in adjustability and ride quality. Their flag ship Variant 3 coilover features independent rebound and compression as well as adjustable ride height. The direct competitor to this KW V3 would be a Bilstein PSS10. Bilstein only offers 10-way adjustable dampening, which is the rebound and compression in one. Having independent adjustability allows you to fine tune in your ride for your driving style or track type. The rebound is how fast or slow the shock comes back once compressed and compression is how fast or slow the shock compresses on bumps. Both of these require proper spring rates and valving. As you will see in these KW videos, KW Germany goes to extreme lengths to shock dyno and chassis dyno their suspension to make sure the right combination is achieved.
Besides the KW V3 coilover, KW also offers their intro Variant 1 system. This coilover features only adjustable ride height and is great for the daily driving that wants the lowered look. Their Variant 2 system is similar to a Bilstein but priced better. This features single adjustable dampening and adjustable ride height. For the extremely competitive racer who is out at the track weekly and wants the ultimate in handling to win and be first, KW has its Clubsport coilovers. KW Clubsport coilovers were developed for enthusiasts who demand a better handling car when participating in track day events, but also require a setup that could be used every day. The Clubsport was specifically designed for the Nordschleife using track day tires. Over 12km and a 1000 feet of elevation change, there is no better testing grounds then the Nurburgring for a vehicle. Designed, tested, produced in Germany, the best choice when it comes to coilover suspension should always be KW Coilovers!
