If you want the performance of a ZL1 Camaro, but also want the luxury of a Cadillac, the CTS-V is the perfect solution for you. Under the hood of the latest generation CTS-V is GM’s new 6.2L supercharged V8 LT4 engine which outputs a hefty 650 horsepower and 650 ft-lbs. The problem with supercharged engines is keeping the supercharger cool and efficient. Unfortunately, the R1740 supercharger that GM uses is not the most efficient, and although it gets the job done, a more efficient supercharger would mean more power. Magnuson is one of the biggest names in the supercharger market, and they have just announced their new 2300 Heartbeat supercharger for the 2017+ LT4 CTS-V.
This new supercharger is not only larger than the stock supercharger, allowing it to move more air and create more boost, it’s also more efficient. Staying at the stock boost level, a 50-60rwhp gain is achieved with this supercharger from the improved efficiency and cooler charge air temperatures. Since it’s also larger than the stock unit, a smaller pulley can be installed to increase boost. Assuming you have the fueling system to keep up with the larger demand, gains of over 300whp are possible with this supercharger.
