To complete our Porsche 996 exhaust system, we wanted to get a catback that looked good, performed well, and had a great tone. With such great luck with the SuperSprint system on our BMW M3, it was a no brainer that we would put the same on our Project 996.
The first step in changing our the factory exhaust system for the much better SuperSprint is to unbolt the bracket where the stock muffler attaches to. Then you loosen the slip fit clamp and slide the cat pipe section off. The muffler will now drop down. Once that is removed you can attach the bracket on to the new muffler. Simply hang the new muffler in place and slide the slip joint over and tighten down. Do the same for both sides!
SuperSprint provides amazingly stylish tips with their exhaust systems. Each 3.5 inch tip is oval with the SuperSprint logo engraved on it. The tips fit just like the factory ones with a clamp. If you like the factory ones, you can use those too! Once you have the tips relatively tight, you can move them around to center them in the rear bumper cut out area.
Overal impression of the SuperSprint exhaust is very good. The fitment, welds, sound is all top notch. Again like all SuperSprint products, you spend a bit more, but is well worth it in the end. The exhaust along with our header on the car give a noticeably deeper tone. At idle the car sounds relatively stock, but through the powerband, you know you got something coming out the rear! The performance gains is noticeable too. The car has more pick up on throttle response, a bit more torque, and at high speed punches feels much more strong.
