It’s no secret that Nissan’s 4.0L V6, which they use in a few different trucks, is pretty unpowered. Outputting anywhere from 261hp to 275hp, the VQ40DE leaves much to be desired. The lack of power becomes very apparent when towing or hauling anything heavy. If you want to squeeze more power out your Frontier, Pathfinder, or Xterra, you need to increase airflow through the engine.
The easiest way to increase airflow through your engine is with a cold air intake system. This is where Injen comes in with their new cold air intake system for 4.0L V6 Frontier, Pathfinder, and Xterra. This new cold air intake replaces the OEM intake system with an Injen rotomolded intake box filtered by an Injen SuperNano-Web dry air filter and an aluminum intake tube.
Compared to the OEM intake system, airflow is improved greatly, and Injen specifically designed their rotomolded intake box to draw in cold air from outside the vehicle which reduces intake air temperatures and further improves performance. Once installed, you can expect dyno-proven gains of up to 10hp and 10lb-ft.
For those who feel the Rotomolded intake box isn’t necessary, Injen also offers this system with no intake box.
- Dyno proven gains of 10hp and 10lb-ft
- Serviceable Injen SuperNano-Web dry air filter
- No tuning required
- 6061-T6 aluminum intake tubing
- Available for 05-17 Frontier, 05-15 Pathfinder, and 05-15 Xterra
