The Subaru WRX STI has long been a benchmark for Japanese performance vehicles. Unfortunately, Subaru hasn’t given the STI a major bump in power to compete with modern sports car. Luckily, the turbocharged nature of the STI means increasing power is relatively easy.
By getting more air to the turbocharger, more boost can be created. Increasing airflow is the whole idea behind an aftermarket intake. For the 2016 – 2017 Subaru STI, Perrin just released their new Cold Air Intake.
One of the problems aftermarket intakes face on the Subaru STI is getting the stock mass air flow (MAF) sensor to work properly. Perrin focused on placing the MAF sensor in the correct location and used their air straightener inside the intake tube to ensure the MAF sensor gets a smooth flow of air for reliable sensor readings.
For the filter, Perrin used their advanced Dryflow filter, which allows for the same level of protection as an oiled filter, but without the hassle of an oiled filter. The filter allows for an increase in flow compared to the OEM filter, which ultimately increases horsepower.
This new Perrin cold air intake is available in a Black or Red wrinkle powder coated finish. All necessary mounting brackets and hardware are included, making installation a breeze. This intake is designed specifically for 2016 – 2017 STI and should not be used for 2008 – 2015 STI.
