Many people like to lift their UTVs for better ground clearance, but lifting a UTV will change the suspension geometry, and generally, it causes more stress on specific components. This problem can be mitigated by using longer suspension arms which effectively reduces the angle of the suspension arms, but the problem still exists. If you want more ground clearance without altering the suspension geometry, then portal axles are the answer. These are essentially a gearbox on the end of the axle that allows the axle shaft to sit higher than the centerline of the wheel.
With portal axles, you can reduce the angle of the axle shaft while also increasing ground clearance. To be exact, the SuperATV portal gear lift will provide either 4” or 6” of lift. Unlike some other portal gear kits on the market, you are not required to shop your axle shafts. With a 30% gear reduction, your top speed will be lower, but the torque multiplication will make your UTV better at low speed crawling, and it will have better acceleration overall.
Separate from the new portal axle lifts is a new frame stiffener. Overall, the RS1 chassis is pretty good, but it does have some weak areas. The idea of this frame stiffener is to tie everything together to improve overall chassis stiffness. This is perfect RS1 owners who like to go hard or have added the extra weight of a lift kit or bigger tires.
