Although the FA20-DIT engine under the hood of the 2015+ Subaru WRX is awesome, there are some flaws that made it into the full production models. One of those flaws is the factory intake tube for the turbocharger. Not only is the tube smaller than the diameter of the turbocharger, causing restricted airflow, but it also flexes and over time can cause a vacuum leak. This will lead to potentially dangerous conditions and a check engine light. Perrin, best known for their Subaru parts, recognized this problem and developed a simple solution.
Perrin’s 3” turbo inlet is much larger than the stock 2.6” tube which allows for increased flow, especially if you have any other modifications. Perrin eliminates the possibility of a vacuum leak by using a CNC billet flange and an OEM o-ring with a large silicon tube. Since the silicone tubing doesn’t have any weird bends like the factory tube, the air can flow much easier and can theoretically increase horsepower.
This intake tube is available in two different colors: black and red. Red can really set off the look under your hood, but if you want something more subtle the black is perfect.
