Many have built the Porsche 991 GT3RS Lego Technic set. With 2704 pieces, it will take you more than a couple hours to build. The Lego Technic line is pretty cool with it’s functioning parts and almost robotic look and feel. These are not the little Legos your kids play with. The Porsche is 6” (17cm) high, 22” (57cm) long and 9” (25cm) wide. But what makes this kit cool is the attention to detail. The packaging, the book included, and as a previous GT3RS owner and lover of all things Porsche, this is a piece of art. But why have just another orange Lego Porsche? The real Porsche 991 GT3RS in Violet Purple is probably one of the sexiest things on Earth. So as we do with our real Project Cars at Vivid Racing, we took this a step further!
We introduce this very real, non photoshopped, Ultra Violet Purple Lego Technic Porsche 991 GT3RS! To make this happen, my wife and I put in some serious work. Each piece was hand painted before assembly. Going from Box to Box we would paint, let dry, assemble. The car was only worked on a couple hours a night and a couple days a week. The entire process took just over a month. End result, pure awesomeness!
Enjoy the photos, don’t ask for me to make another one, and make sure to buy all your Porsche Performance Parts Here 🙂
The real 991 GT3RS in Violet Purple
Great job! Where did you find the paint?
Thank you. We just used Rustoleum from Home Depot. Something like this https://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleum-Specialty-12-oz-No-Hunting-Purple-Spray-Paint-Case-of-6-270970/204725566
How has the paint lasted? Did you sand them? I want to do this so bad maybe in another color but I must know because after I saw yours done I fell in love!
No issue with the paint. Car sits on a shelf on display. I guess if people constantly touched it and played with it that could be different. We did not sand the parts. Just sprayed them.
So once the car is been paint then it can not be touch, right? Can you share the detail you done to the car. do you just spary and and how do you let it dry, how long does it take?
And I saw that the Porsche logo sticker is also in purple, how do you do that?
Each piece was painted before assembly. You can totally touch it once dry. The sticker we printed the logo here. The paint is just a spray found at lowes or Home Depot.
Dan, love this!! Would you ever consider selling this lego car?
the price would have to be in the thousands…
