To the Porsche purist, this is a crime. To the tuner, JDM fan, and those that know, this is awesome! This is a Porsche 996 Carrera that started its life out as the narrow body 2 wheel drive 911 with really not that much flare. But what has happened is a complete transformation. As a SSR Wheel supplier, we were notified of this vehicle and simply had to share it. The car features a set of SSR Professor MS1 wheels. The step lip wheels are matte black with a polished lip. Having sold these in the past for other cars such as the 996 Turbo, the sizes this car is probably running are a 19×8.5 and 19×12. With the vehicles matte black exterior finished, it is clear that the Japanese aero kit company Top Secret have made this into a truely unique piece. With its different headlights, flared fenders, big vents, and aggressive rear end, rumor has it this kit alone is upwards of $15,000. Other small details show a full 4 wheel Endless Big Brake Kit and some sort of uber custom and rad Titanium Exhaust. But if I were to get a older Porsche 996 C2 as a project car, this would be the kit I would do along with a VF Engineering Supercharger and these SSR Wheels.
Hey Dan & fellas @ Vivid,
This reply is 8-month overdue, a friend of mine forwarded me the link to this blog post… anyways, I’m the owner of this vehicle, and it is actually NOT base on a regular 996C2, but a 996 turbo (the only turbo-base 996 with this kit in the world), it sure took us a whole lot of time to make things fit correctly because, yes, the kit was made for the narrow body. 99% of the parts on this car are in fact, all JDM, if anything this 911 turbo is more JDM than the fanboy-craze RWB 993/964 in the states.
For the wheel fitment, it’s 20×10 +6 in the front and 20×12.5 +0 that you see in the picture (I’m currently on the same wheels, but 20×9.5 +12 in the front for the ease of driving). Power wise, K24-18G + 60lbs injectors w/ EPL custom tune, AWE intercoolers, IPD plenums and GT3 TB, Gruppe M carbon intake, HKS SQV BOV by SP, Arqray full titanium header & exhaust. The car dyno’ed @ 520whp/500lbs torque on 91 pump, and close to 600whp/560lbs torque on 109 unleaded vp fuel; I guess that’s equivalent to most GT650/700-kits out there?
The Endless bbk you see here are no ordinary setup, the front is the first AND the only set of Endless 12-pot bbk in North America, while the rear sits a pair of racing 6-pot. The car is lowered on a set of Aragosta coilovers w/ the Roberuta electro-magnetic lifter-system, while the car is also equipped with everything RSS has to offer from arms to links, and to top it off with carbon front and rear tower strut bar by iCode Japan.
Exterior wise, the Top Secret widebody was actually the “carbon-option”, so including the optional deck-lid/wing as well as the optional front carbon splitter, the cost was actually over $20k at the currency then, now it should be well over $25k. The paint is actually NOT matte black, it’s the authentic Reventon matte grey from Lamborghin,i base on the vin-#-matching Reventon (yes, took the vin of one in order to order the paint through Beverly Hills dealer). One of my favorite rare-JDM piece on the exterior is a pair of the carbon Craftsquare mirrors, with the optional turn-signal lights and anti-glare lenses, the same setup being used in the JGTC GT300 Porsches.
Interior has every carbon piece MA has to offer for the car, but the highlights are a pair of authentic Carrera GT seats w/ Porsche engrave logo, Gemballa steering wheel & carbon door sills, and Porsche Tequipment roll bar; also, many goodies from brands such as APR, iMac/iCode…etc of Japan.
Overall the whole car was built with no shortcut taken, over $200k spent on the entire build including the cost of the car, and unfortunately it will hit the market soon with a significantly lower asking price, making it available for the collectors out there.
Thanks for the feature once again, it’s been fun following all your posts on 6speed, love the cars you guys built, many have inspired what I do with mine, and thank you guys for offering such great service to the tuner community!
Past customer,
