Vivid Racing has gotten to do many different projects over the years. Lately we have been diving into more unique and collaborative projects that really turn heads for going outside the norms. This latest project comes from a customer located in Dubai that is having us build the ULTIMATE RX8. With our past experience shown strong from our Pepsi RX8 project, Vivid Racing was the obvious choice to take this car to the next level.
This RX8 will be equipped with many of the best products. For the wheels, we have custom made HRE 844R in 19 inch staggard setup. The wheels are a gloss black with a painted match outer lip. For the brakes, we are equipping the car with the Rotora front 6piston big brake kit and 4piston big brake kit, both which have 2 piece drilled and slotted 355mm rotors. The suspension will be equipped by JIC Magic and Agency Power. The car will be riding on the JIC FLTAR coilovers with the Agency Power front and rear adjustable sway bars and sway bar links. The car will then feature a complete INGS NSpec body kit with a Seibon carbon fiber hood and carbon fiber decklid. To give it that GT look, a APR carbon fiber GTC wing will be installed.
The power will come under the hood with a JDM 20B Cosmo engine. This car will be completely custom built from the wiring, intercooler, headers, radiator, and turbo kit. We plan on running a large single turbo to produce somewhere in the neighborhood of 700 crank horsepower. As we are just in the beginning stages, stay tuned to this blog for more details. Ffffffff that. Haha. Too much work.
i need hooked up with some nice wheels for the saab
Oh yes, still going on. Motor was dead when we went to crank it. So we had Rotary Rockets here in AZ rebuild it for us. Now we are going through the reassembly process. We got our custom fuel rails back which are being installed with the larger injectors. We always update pics here – Rx8 20b Motor – Vivid Racing Gallery
So what details do you have on the turbo your using? Also any work done to the 20b? Looks good otherwise
this build is kinda flying under the radar, not many updates on it, think it should turn out pretty bad though
Motor and trans are in. Expect updates to start flowing faster now! Stay tuned to the build website here. Feel free to post comments and questions.
Waiting for the yoke to come in so we can install the carbon drive shaft
Thats sick. Perhaps the best project you having going on atm. Make it more noticeable on the front page of the website.
Just got the custom DriveShaft installed. We have built custom braces to that will be installed. All that will be together by the end of the day then all we have is plumbing
Its finally coming all together. That car has been blocking the car lift for over 1.5 years now. But I cant wait to see the numbers it will produce.
About to start work on the FMIC piping. All 3inch aluminum piping. That is a Garrett core too. All the room we got! Got the INGS bumper inplace. Here we go!
More updates coming soon!
You guys are animals Great work guys keep it
And please more updates asap I cant wait to see the finished product
Here comes all the good stuff! We are wrapping up the custom intercooler pipeing, turbo mounting with downpipe and connecting the exhaust. Hopefully all the "plumbing" will be done mid next week. Then we can attached the exhaust with those bitchin Titanium Renesis Exhaust tips from Knight Sports
Wiring, wiring, wiring. The factory harness was botched and with this Haltech we have had to rebuild everything. The wiring is coming along as we get closer to the finish.
All the front end plumbing is done. This thing has more AN fittings and braided line then Earls does in its warehouse! And for kicks as we waited for fittings, we threw on the Rotora GIAGANTOR brakes. Better photos coming soon.
More updates!
Its starting to become a Porsche How much crap can you cram into a small space! Here you can see our turbo piping, downpipe, and headers. We have been doing alot of work with TurboSmart and very impressed with their wastegate and BOV. The wastegate is a VBand style and the head is much smaller then the Tial 44mm giving you better clearance. Waiting on a couple block adapters and we are in the home stretch!
Just curious…what’s the price estimate for how much the built cost? for the engine, wiring, and custom drive-shaft?
Did you guys use the stock diff?
Did you guys use the oem transmission? if not, what was done to it or what transmission was used in replace of it to handle all that torque?
Do you guys plan on selling a kit on this build??? that would be awesome! haha
Any info would help, I’m wanting to do almost the exact same thing to my rx8! I’ve already custom built my entire suspension. Now just figuring out everything for the 20B build.
thanks- AL
There is over $50K in parts and labor on this. The transmission is completely different, custom bell housing, etc. I would never recommend doing this swap.
