Well I finally got a chance to take her out to the old drag races. Yes the most uneventful type of motorsports in a straight line, but it was fun. To bad it was the wrong time of year. Being in this business for 8 years I have actually NEVER drag raced a car in my life. I always road race at the track which requires turning 🙂 Well we headed down to Firebird Raceway here in Phoenix for some runs. With the temperature outside just over 100F, I was running 1.2 bar of boost on what was a mix to get 93 octane. My first run made me seem as if I was retarded with a reaction time of .7sec. Apparently its not like at the street where you wait for the light to turn green! With a terrible launch I still manage to eat up this Corvette and get a 124mph trap speed. The 2nd run I was told to turn off the traction control, rev it up to 5000rpm and let it go at the last yellow. With a .228 reaction time, I rip down the strip with a trap speed of 126mph. The time was still only a 11.6 because of the heat and pump gas on low boost. Next time with cooler temperatures, higher race gas, and some better driving, we are easily going to hit the mid 10’s.
