Taking a stock vehicle off-road is sometimes asking for trouble. Often you will see a stock truck clogging the trail because they got stuck. The reason these vehicles get stuck so easily is due to the ground clearance. Being that the chassis hangs fairly low on most trucks, it is common to bottom out when going up or down steep hills.
Lifting the vehicle gives owners the ability to fit larger wheels and tires which also provide better ground clearance. When it comes to lifting a truck, there is much more science to it than throwing block spacers under the leaf springs and calling it a day. Fortunately, Southern Truck engineers lift kits with suspension dynamics in mind to take the guesswork out of piecing together quality lift components.

Each lift kit features steering correcting components when lifting over 3.5-inches. Being that the dynamics change the higher the lift, correction is needed. This is achieved with a new pitman arm to compensate for the difference in reach from the steering gearbox. For the F150 models that use a rack and pinion steering, upgraded knuckles are included to level the tie rods after the lift is installed.
With suspension geometry corrected on a four to six-inch lift, the vehicle will drive smooth and handle as if it was factory. The reinforced brackets included with the kits provide immense strength which permits off-road use. Utilizing heavy-duty steel brackets prevent any mishaps from happening on the trails, giving owners the peace of mind that they can make it through.
