If you’re an automotive enthusiast in the US, then you’ve probably heard of SEMA. It’s the biggest automotive expo in the US. Japan has a pretty big car scene and Tokyo Auto Salon, TAS for short, is their version of SEMA. With huge names like Liberty Walk coming from Japan, TAS is full of awesome cars. Here is are some of the cool vehicles and booths we saw on our first day there.
3D Designs
3D Designs is pretty well known for their carbon fiber body parts such as front lips and rear wings. They brought a BMW i8 equipped with their front lip and rear spoiler.
Advan and Yokohama
Advan is an extremely popular wheel brand that enthusiasts all over the globe use. Their booth features a small wall full of their different wheel styles. Also at their booth was a Toyota 86 featuring a carbon fiber trunk, a massive rear wing, and a carbon fiber hood. Also at their booth was a Lexus LC500h which is becoming massively popular in the JDM community.
Blitz
Blitz is yet another very popular brand in the JDM community. They produce everything from radiators to body kits. They’re also extremely well known for their awesome sounding exhaust system. In their booth was a Nissan Leaf with some goodies under the hood and a simple body kit on the outside. Also in their booth was a Lexus LFA and a Honda Civic. All three vehicles were painted the same white color.
Cusco
Cusco is best known for their roll cages and chassis bracing, but they also produce limited slip differentials and many other parts. At their booth was a wide body Toyota 86 and the entire rear subframe of a Toyota 86 equipped with a ton of their parts. Also at their booth was a table full of differential, transmission, and brake parts.
Fairy Designs
Fairy Design produces all sorts of awesome looking body kits and body parts for a wide array of vehicles. At their booth was a Toyota CHR equipped with their wide body kit and Fuel Off-Road wheels. Also at the Fairy Design booth was their Mercedes-Benz GLE-43 AMG which has been equipped with their body kit and Rotiform wheels. The last vehicle at their booth was a Maserati Levante rocking their widebody kit and Niche road wheels.
HKS
HKS is one of the biggest names in the JDM market. At their booth was an insanely wide Toyota 86 race car and two FA20 engines. The first engine is equipped with their supercharger kit and the second engine is equipped with their turbocharger kit.
Pandem Rocket Bunny
Chances are you’ve heard of Rocket Bunny. They produce some of the most internet famous wide body kits ever. At their body widebody R35 GTR on air suspension, a wide body Honda Civic EG, a widebody BMW E90, and a wide body Porsche.
RE Amemiya
RE Ameniya is best known for their RX7 parts. Predictably at their booth were two RX7s in the blue color that RE Ameniya is known for. They also had a rotary engine on display with a couple of rotors next to it.
Varis
Varis is best known for their body kits and is pretty popular in the JDM community. At their booth was an R35 GTR, Subaru WRX, Mitsubishi EVO, Toyota Supra, and an FK8 Civic Type R. All of these vehicles were equipped with Varis’ body kits and look pretty darn awesome.
Liberty Walk
Liberty Walk is another extremely well known company best known for their insane widebody kits. Their most popular body kits are for high end cars such as Lamborghinis and GTRs. In their booth was a Lamborghini Aventador, Nissan R35 GTR, Multiple Acura NSX, and a Lamborghini Miura. All of the vehicles in their booth were equipped with a Liberty Walk widebody kit, and some of them also featured air suspension.
