It’s no secret that many enthusiasts love the Focus ST and Fiesta ST. Ford really did a good job creating a fun to drive hatchback that can outrun much more expensive cars in the canyons. One of the best ways to improve the experience of driving your car is to add an exhaust system.
Not only will you gain some horsepower and torque, but the added sound adds a whole new dynamic to the experience of driving. There are quite a few exhaust systems for the Focus ST out there and choosing the right one can be stressful. For this reason, we created a list and narrowed it down to our top four favorite exhaust systems.
#1 Agency Power 3″ Catback
First on our list is the 3” catback exhaust system from Agency Power. This system uses stainless steel tubing for the main part of the exhaust and titanium for the tips. The tubing uses 3″ mandrel bent piping for excellent flow and sound.
What’s really cool about this system is the v-band style clamp that’s used on the tip which allows you to quickly change what style tip you want. The tips are offered as a dual 4” tip or a triple 2.75” tip. Both styles are offered in a black ceramic coated and blued titanium version.
This exhaust system from Agency Power will increase peak horsepower by 10hp. With a tune, however, power will be increased by an impressive 40lb-ft and 40whp. On top of the great design, sound, and performance, this exhaust system is pretty affordable. For the money, there really isn’t a better exhaust for your Focus ST.
Agency Power also offers a similar exhaust system for the Focus RS!
#2 GReddy Supreme SP 3″ Catback
Third on our list is GReddy Supreme SP 3″ catback system. Just like the Agency Power exhaust system, this one uses stainless steel tubing with 3″ mandrel bent tubing with 4″ dual tips. Unlike the Agency Power system, however, this one doesn’t feature multiple tips to choose from.
The tips that come with the exhaust system use a double-walled design and do fill up the exhaust cut-out pretty well. Unfortunately, this exhaust system is quite a bit more expensive than the Agency Power exhaust and doesn’t offer any additional features.
#3 Ford Racing 3″ Catback
Third on our list is the Ford Racing / Mountune 2.5” exhaust system. Mountune is really well known for creating high-performance versions of the Fiesta and Focus ST that you buy straight from the dealership floor. Their exhaust system for the Focus ST uses stainless steel with a 2.5” mandrel bent design.
The mufflers on this system are designed to eliminate drone but may be a little too quiet for some enthusiasts. The exhaust tip is offered as a simple dual exit but doesn’t have any other options.
This is exhaust is great if you’re looking for something similar to stock. Unfortunately, Mountune decided to use 2.5” piping which can limit exhaust flow and ultimately not give you as much power as you want.
#4 Borla 2.5″ Catback
Next is the 2.5” exhaust from Borla. Just like the other exhaust systems we’ve talked about, this exhaust from Borla uses stainless steel tubing with a 2.5” tubing diameter. The location of the muffler on this exhaust system is farther back than the other systems we’ve talked about, and it also includes a resonator.
This helps eliminate drone at highway speeds. The tips have a dual 4.5” design which really fills up the cut-out in the bumper.
#5 MBRP 3″ Aluminized Steel Catback
For Focus ST owners who want an ultra affordable exhaust system without regard to the materials used for construction, we recommend the MBRP 3″ aluminized steel exhaust. Unlike the other exhaust systems on this list, the MBRP exhaust doesn’t use stainless steel. Instead this system is constructed from aluminized steel.
While aluminized steel might be a lower quality material compared to stainless steel, it’s still plenty strong enough for automotive use and it’s significantly cheaper than stainless steel. The end result is an awesome sounding 3″ exhaust with the lowest price tag on this list.
At the rear you’ll fit two slash cut 4″ tips with no rear muffler. The center of the exhaust features two resonator/mufflers which help keep the exhaust volume within legal limits and give your Focus ST a great sound!
#6 AWE Tuning
The last exhaust on our list comes from AWE Tuning. The reason we’re featured the AWE catback exhaust is because it’s available in two different models: Touring and Track. These two different versions are effectively exactly the same except for their sound level.
The Touring exhaust is the quieter of the two, however, it’s still noticeably louder than your stock exhaust. The Track exhaust is significantly louder than stock, using one small resonator/muffler and nothing else to reduce sound.
Both systems are constructed from high-quality T304L stainless steel and feature AWE Lifetime Exhaust Warranty.
Summary
Although all of the exhaust systems above have their pros and cons, the Agency Power exhaust really offers the best bang-for-buck. It has tons of tips options, a 3″ mandrel bent design, and big 4″ tips, all for a really reasonable price. All of these exhaust systems work best when paired with a tune.
