Vivid Racing has only stepped into the domestic market with Project Viper. But with the 1960’s style horsepower wars raging between Ford, Chevy and Dodge yet again, Vivid Racing has decided to take on the Mighty 2011 Ford Mustang GT with 5.0L Coyote engine.
So why the Ford Mustang? This newly designed 5.0L engine pays homage to the infamous 5.0’s of the late 70’s into the early 90’s. During that time, 5.0 Mustang’s were highly modified and great for drag racing. The new 5.0 in the 2011 GT is an aluminum block and heads with Ti-VCT (Twin Independent Variable Camshaft Timing) that pumps out 412hp and 390ft. lbs of torque.
Also re-designed for 2011 is the suspension. Using many of the same parts as the 05-10 Mustangs, the 2011 GT suspension now includes Electric Power Assist Steering (EPAS). This along with the enhanced lower control arm and stiffer overall suspension gives the car the ability to tackle both the strip and the track equally well.
Vivid Racing will look to further improve the GT’s suspension, power, style and overall performance with a variety modifications. The car came as a base level GT with the Brembo Brake upgrade (which includes 19 wheels and P-Zero tires), 3.73 rear axle and stripe/spoiler delete.
Here are some photos of the car as it was delivered by the dealer. Let Project Domestic Invasion begin!
