About Lo-Tek

Lo-Tek Incorporated was founded by a small group of automotive enthusiasts in the summer of 1985. The company is based out of Durham, North Carolina. Its first mission was to develop auxiliary instrumentation for the most venerable intercooled turbo Buick introduced in 1986. Lo-Tek’s products grew to become the most popular accessories in the instrumentation aftermarket, and spawned an entire industry thereafter. 

The name Lo-Tek was inspired by a short story written by science-fiction author William Gibson. The "LoTeks" were a tribe of “cyberpunk gangsters” that developed unconventional uses for technology – mainly to further their own alternative agenda. The story is entitled "Johnny Mnemonic," and bears only a slight resemblance to the movie of the same title.

Lo-Tek’s in-house mold-making and finishing shop allows it to offer products at substantial savings over its copycat competitors. What’s more, Lo-Tek is capable of designing and manufacturing short-run custom products ­– something that the larger, high-volume manufacturers will not do.
