Whether you intend to rebuild your street machine, toughen your truck, or simply update your everyday suspension bushing Nolathane is the link between your vehicle and its springs, struts, and shock absorbers. Suspension bushings supply the movement and/or mounting points in your vehicle's suspension system. Original rubber suspension bushings are squeezed or chemically bound to the suspension components to which they are fitted. In the case of a metallastic (steel cased) bush, the rubber is compressed at the time of manufacture and chemically bonded to the metal core sleeve and outer steel shell. The rubber bush is generally press-fitted into the suspension component, such as a control arm, then bolted to the chassis. In this approach, the ability of suspension movement or rotation to move is constrained. The Nolathane rubber suspension bush design involves a delicate compromise, as it is enough to permit sufficient rotational movement while retaining alignment settings.

WHAT MAKES NOLATHANE BUSHING SPECIAL?


Unlike rubber, Nolathane polyurethane suspension bushings are not bonded by compression. Nolathane bushings are mechanically fitted with a little crush of the urethane substance, and the central pin is lubricated so the component freely pivots without constraint. When combined with Nolathane's ability to retain the shape of the bush, this free pivoting results in a more responsive handling reaction and significantly better suspension control. Technical advancements in suspension design have resulted in many modern automobiles having much enhanced on-road handling. Using Nolathane suspension bushings eliminates suspension weakness and hence retains steering control.

Nolathane was originally developed to replace brass bushings in hill climb vehicles. As a result, the early formulations were extremely hard, as they were intended to replace brass, not rubber. While it performed admirably in competition, it was far too harsh for everyday street use. Nolathane is available in a variety of durometers (grades of softness/hardness), with the appropriate durometer being chosen for each application.
