What Makes Enkei TFR Wheels Special?

The Enkei TFR is a wheel so simple, so basic that there isn’t really anything special about it. And perhaps that is why it is special. The TFR is constructed using Colin Chapman’s mantra: simplify then add lightness. That mantra worked wonders for Lotus cars in racing and on the road. And it has also served Enkei well with the TFR.

The TFR’s seven perfectly contoured spokes start from a center with carefully placed cuts to save every ounce possible. The TFR is the wheel you can hit autocross courses with on the weekends and drive to work with during the week. It is truly versatile.

The Enkei TFR, like all Enkei wheels, is constructed using Enkei’s patented MAT process to produce a wheel that’s incredibly light and extremely strong. The Most Advanced Technology combines one-piece cast wheel technology with a rim forming technology called spinning process. Using this technique of casting and rim forming is critical to improving the material property and strength of the wheels. Rim-Rolled technology shapes the rim to improve material elongation without sacrificing the wheels’ hardness. This hybrid process of casting and forging gives wheel high material strength while keeping manufacturing costs less than forged wheels.

Because this wheel is strong, it is no doubt that the TFR will surpass the JWL standard. So, Enkei made their own testing procedure which is more stringent than JWL: the Spec-E. Enkei’s Spec-E test setting requires a higher drop point in the impact test and 20% more cycles for the rotary bending fatigue and dynamic radial fatigue tests than JWL standards.

And because of that, the TFR can be used for racing since every wheel Enkei produces passed the stringent JGTC standards.
