Yakima has a history of taking risks in pursuit of fresh opportunities. They began as a modest machine shop in their hometown of Seattle, Washington. The company was then purchased in 1979 by hardcore kayakers and cyclists, Steve Cole and Don Banducci. By 1984, they had put Yakima on the map by customizing every race vehicle with customized aerodynamic fairings for the Summer Olympics.
